Soap - Traditional Castile
This soap is named after the city of Castile, Spain. Castile soap is based on Aleppo Soap, which is made from Olive Oil and Laurel Berry Oil. But with no easy access to Laurel Oil, early soap makers created this soap using only Olive Oil. Castile soap needs to cure for at least 12 months to produce a hard bar that won't dissolve in humidity, these have cured for 14 months. It is recommended that you use a soap tray that can allow the bar to dry between uses. (They are sold on this site, by the way.) Don't expect a thick bubbley lather, but do enjoy one of the mildest soaps made. This soap is lightly scented with Bergamont and Grapefruit Essential Oils. The ash on this soap is natural. I could remove it, but then it would lose some of it's character.
